How to Protect Yourself from Deepfakes, AI Scams & Social Media Manipulation
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing what we can trust across social media, videos, images, online content, phone calls, financial communications, and personal identity verification. From AI-generated Instagram influencers and fake social media posts to deepfake videos, cloned voices, fraudulent emails, and highly convincing scams, AI tools capable of creating realistic deception are now widely accessible and increasingly difficult to detect.
This engaging and eye-opening presentation explores the growing range of AI-powered threats targeting individuals, families, businesses, and financial accounts. Through real-world examples and demonstrations, attendees will see how AI can be used to impersonate family members, compromise financial accounts, spread misinformation, facilitate identity theft, emotionally manipulate people, and enable increasingly sophisticated scams that most people are unprepared to recognize.

FerryCon 2026 **NEW DATE**
Saturday, November 21
11:00 am - 5:00 pm
FerryCon is the library’s annual Comic Con-style flagship event for all ages that takes place one Saturday every fall (formerly spring). Since 2019, FerryCon has brought over 300 participants to the library for fun-filled events including artists alley, classes, panels, and contests that revolved around comic books, graphic novels, super heroes, and more!
This event is free but will include a suggested donation of $5 per family at the door. We’re fundraising for the library this year!
11:30am: Meet & Greet with Spider-Man, followed by a spidey-sational storytime!
12:30pm: Kids’ Combat Workshop with Hudson Valley Saber Guild
1:30pm: Storybuilding: Create Your Own Characters and Tell Your Own Story with author Mina Elwell
2:30pm: Sculpt Your Avatar art workshop with MakerHive
4:00pm: Super Mario Galaxy (PG, 2026) showing
All Day: Pokémon trading, Magic the Gathering, KPop Dance Party, Tarot, Raffle, temporary tattoo station
