Local History Conversation with Ernie Howell
Sunday, October 24
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Pull up a chair and join the conversation! Discover the remarkable Ernest M. Howell from Davenport, Iowa. Now 90+ years young, Ernie and his family arrived in Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1965. Ernie has been an active part of the Dobbs Ferry community ever since. Ernie’s path from Iowa wound through Harvard, NYC, Asia and California. Along the way Ernie and his beloved wife Jean honed three important “formulas”:
- Small community projects though not flashy can reap big benefits.
- Kids rise to the occasion when empowered to be responsible.
- Food is a great common denominator and unifier.
For more details about Ernie’s professional life and service in The Asia Society, YMCA and more, a “must read” is Ernie’s book, “Meditations: Finding ErnieJean Howell: Our Way,” available to borrow from the Dobbs Ferry Public Library.
