Hulda: The Other Legend of Sleepy Hollow – Storyteller event live at the Library
Saturday, October 1
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Storyteller Carla Lynne Hall performs an updated narrative of Mother Hulda of Bohemia, a woman who lived in Sleepy Hollow during the 1770’s. In Edgar Mayhew Bacon’s 1897 book Chronicles of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, he mentioned the woman whose basket weaving and healing abilities led to her being shunned as a witch, while her skills as a sharpshooter made her a Revolutionary War hero.
Musical accompaniment by Jim Keyes.
This program is made possible through Revolutionary Westchester 250, Westchester County, and the Westchester Library System. It is designed to build awareness and appreciation for the Revolutionary War era in Westchester, in anticipation of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026.
