2021 Summer Reading Challenge

Dobbs Ferry Public Library is excited to announce its Summer Reading Challenge!
All teens and pre-teens who live in and/or attend school in Dobbs Ferry are invited to participate — no registration required.
The Summer Reading Challenge will center around various programs. By participating in these programs (some of which are ongoing and some of which will happen either in-person or on Zoom), teens and pre-teens can receive tickets for the Summer Reading Raffle, which will happen at the end of the summer. The prizes up for grabs are:

  • $25 Gift Certificate to Dobbs Dawg House
  • $25 Gift Certificate to Go Greenly Frozen Yogurt
  • $10 Gift Certificate to Sweet and Savory
  • $25 Gift Certificate to Climbing Wolf Coffee (two available)
  • $25 to NYHC Comics
  • “Sad Sack” Book Bundle
    • A collection of tear-jerking YA novels. Comes with tissues and a bar of your favorite kind of chocolate bar
  • “Thrills and Chills” Book Bundle
    • A collection of spooky YA novels. Comes with a fidget toy (to keep you from biting down your nails to the quick) and a mini-flashlight for reading under the covers
  • Print-Your-Pet Figurine
    • Create a 3D printed figurine of your pet or favorite animal right here at DFPL!
  • LED Phone Ring Light
  • Librarian Curated Zine Trio
    • A handpicked collection of three zines based on your interests and hobbies

Book Reviews: Ongoing
Tickets will be awarded for the completion of Summer Reading book reviews, which middle and high schoolers can choose to publish in Dobbs Ferry Middle or High School library’s catalog (if an attendee of the school) and/or on a bookmark that will be available for others in the Teen Space.
Each book review will be worth TWO tickets for the Teen Summer Reading Raffle.

BookTok Challenge
Teens and preteens are invited to make a “Tik Tok style” video centered around a book they have read for summer reading. Teens can do a book talk, a book trailer, reenact a scene, cosplay as a character from the book they read, or take another creative approach.
(Note: You do not actually have to publish it on TikTok or any social media platform!!!)
Participation in this challenge will be worth SIX tickets for the Teen Summer Reading Raffle. With participant permission, the submissions may be shared at a Summer Reading Screening Party at the end of the summer.
To find out more about the submission process, please email amanning@wlsmail.org.
