Notary Public

The Dobbs Ferry Public Library has a notary public on staff.
To assure prompt service when you need a notary, please read the following:

The Library notary is usually available as follows: Monday - Friday; 10AM-4:30 PM

- Do NOT sign your document in advance. All documents must be signed in the presence of a notary.
- Bring a photo ID, preferably your driver's license.
- The document must be in English.
- If the document must be witnessed, you must provide your witnesses. The Library cannot supply witnesses.
- The notary cannot notarize wills or notarize the authenticity of documents (passports or birth, death, or marriage certificates).
- A list of local notary publics is available at the Circulation Desk. Community Services, and Reference departments.
- A notary public may charge a fee of $2 for administering an oath or affirmation or for taking an acknowledgment or proof of execution. Unless otherwise authorized by law, a notarial fee may not exceed this amount.

Please note: The Notary's oath requires that the notary identifies the person signing the document and witnesses the actual signing.
The Notary cannot make any exceptions to this New York State law.

Book A Librarian

“Book a Librarian”, a new service offered by the library’s reference department, offers 30 minute sessions with one of our librarians to help you make the most of our library’s resources. Do you need help getting started with research? Do you want to learn tips on how to search the catalog? Do you need a list of recommended books for your fourth grader? Please contact the reference desk in person or by phone at (914) 231-3056 or send an email to dobref@wlsmail.org and put “Book a Librarian” in the subject line to set up an appointment. Please be prepared to describe what it is you are going to need assistance with, in order to be scheduled with the appropriate reference librarian.

Homebound Service

Dobbs Ferry residents, who have a physical or medical limitation that prevents them from visiting the Library and have no one who can regularly pick up and return items to the Library for them., may sign up for homebound delivery service. You may remain in the program for as long as you need the service. Library staff selects material based upon individual readers' interests and requests and a volunteer delivers the items. This is a service carried out by a Friend of the Library who does it completely voluntarily. Because of this, you may have to wait a short time for items to be brought to you or picked up. Usually at least 3 items are sent so that you will not run out of library materials before the next visit from the volunteer. There are no overdue fines for homebound patrons, although there will be a charge for a lost or damaged item. Please call the library at 693-6614, or email dobref@wlsmail.org for more information.
