Lending Policies & Fines
Borrowing Periods and Charges
- New Books 2 weeks .20 per day, $5.00 max.
- Other Adult Material 3 weeks .10 per day, $5.00 max.
- Children's Materials 3 weeks .10 per day, $5.00 max.
- Adult Music CDs 3 weeks .10 per day, $5.00 max.
- Express Books 1 week .20 per day, $5.00 max. (NO RENEWAL)
- Videos DVDs 1 week $1.00 per day, $10.00 max.
- Magazines 1 week .10 per day, $5.00 max.
- CD-ROM's 2 weeks .10 per day, $5.00 max.
- Pre-loaded Books (Playaway) 3 weeks .20 per day, $5.00 max.
- ILL Materials 4 weeks 2.00 per day, $100.00 Max.(NO RENEWAL)
A borrower who has more than 10 items overdue, fines over $25.00, owes more than $50.00 in lost or damaged material,
or has more than five items they claim to have returned but which the library has not located, will lose all borrowing
privileges until their account has been brought below these limits.
What if I Lose or Damage Library Material?
You Must pay the current cost of each item. We DO NOT accept replacements. Library materials are expensive to replace,
so please take care of the items you borrow.
No refunds once lost materials are paid for.
We accept cash or checks.
Circulating Items may be renewed for one loan period unless they are on hold or overdue.(Express Books and
ILL Materials are NOT renewable). Items may be renewed over the telephone and online. Our staff is happy to renew
material by telephone, call 693-6614 or call our automated " Telecirc" number: 674-4169 To renew items online,
go to www.dobbsferrylibrary.org and click on catalog link. Use your library card number (on the back of the card-no spaces) as your ID,
The book drop is open when the library is closed
DVD/Videocassette Policy
- Anyone with a valid library card may borrow DVDs or videocassettes.
- There is a limit of 4 DVDs per patron per card
- DVDs and videos are loaned for 7 days. There is a $1.00 charge for each day a DVD or video is overdue.
- DVDs and videos may be renewed once for an additional 7 days (per renewal), by telephone, in person or on the internet via your patron account, if not on reserve.
- All DVDs and videos are inspected before being reshelved. If a DVD or video appears damaged, please notify the library; do not attempt to use it.
- If a DVD or video is damaged while on loan, the borrower will be charged for the replacement cost.
- Remember to adjust the tracking on your videocassette player if the picture appears fuzzy.
- The heads on your videocassette player should be cleaned as recommended in your owner's manual. Dirty equipment can cause poor picture quality and possible damage to the videocassette.
- The library is not responsible for any damage that might occur to your DVD player or videocassette player when using a video borrowed from the library.
