The dobbs Ferry Public Library and the Institute for History, Archaeology, and Education are co-sponsoring a lecture and presentation of Robert Yasinac, co-author of "Hudsoun Valley Ruins: Forgotten Landmarks of an American Landscape" (with Thomas E.Rinaldi)

At the Dobbs Ferry Public Library

Tuesday July 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

The talk will be about an effort to raise awareness for the plight of some of the region's forgotten and threatened cultural treasures. In addition to great river estates, the illustrated talk features sites more meaningful to everyday life in the Hudson River Valley: Churches and Hotels, commercial and civic buildings, mills and train stations. Included are works by some of the most important names in American t once an overview of the region's historical built environment and a plea for the survival of these dilapidated structures. Hudson Vallet Ruins is a chronicle of, and memorial to, change.architectural history. A

Starring Donald Sutherland, & Billy Cruddup

The film follows the life story of famous 1970s runner Steve Prefontaine (Cruddup) from his childhood days in Oregon to the Uiversity of Oregon where he worked with the legendary coach Bill Bowerman, later to the Olympics in Munich and his early death, at age 24, in a car crash.
