How to Get a Library Card
On Line Eligibility: Current residents of the Village of Dobbs Ferry who are applying for a library card
for the first time.
Steps for getting your card:
- Complete the online Library Card Application Form for:
Adults (13 years of age and older) Children under 13 must register in person.
- Click on submit, your application will be processed within 3 business days. Library staff
will mail your library card to you.
When you apply for a library card, you accept responsibility for all materials
borrowed on the card and for all charges associated with its use. Please do not lend your card. Report its
loss immediately. Give prompt notice of an address change.
Q: Who can get a library card?
A: Library cards are given free to anyone of any age who lives, works or attends school
in the Village of Dobbs Ferry.(You must be able to sign your name!)
Q: How do I get a library card?
A: To apply for a library card simply complete this form and bring it with you in
person to the library, or complete this form on-line and submit it to the e-mail address (dobref@wlsmail.org),
Your card will be mailed to your residence.
Q: What will I need to bring as proof of residency?
A: We need to verify your current address which can be found on identification such as a driver's
license, telephone bill, utility bill, etc. For on-line registrations, your card will be mailed to you
and that acts as your proof of residency.
Q: How long does it take?
A: With proper identification, your new card is available in only a few minutes while you wait.
Q: Where can I use my card?
A: Your library card may be used in any Westchester County Public Library. The card must be presented
whenever materials are checked out, and you are responsible for anything borrowed on your card.
Q: What if I lose my card?
A: You can easily replace a lost card. Come to the library, provide identification proof and apply
for a replacement. There is a $1.00 replacement fee.
If you change your address and phone number, notify the Library for further information.
Please Note! Your library card number is 14 digits long and can be found under the barcode.
You need the number to place holds, to use the Online Resources, or to check your library account.
It is a good idea to have this number available when calling the library.
