Colonel Brown Brown Bag Book Group: Discussions
Named in honor of Franklin W. Brown, one of Dobbs Ferry Library's benefactors

Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnick

A regular contributor to the New Yorker, writer Adam Gopnik and his family jumped at the chance to live in Paris to write the “Paris Journals” column. His columns are collected here, along with entries from his personal diaries. American audiences will surely enjoy reading amusing and illuminating anecdotes about how an American family might find a doctor to deliver your baby; how does one find a turkey to cook for Thanksgiving; and what bureaucratic hoops must one jump through to join a gym? His personal experiences shed light on larger cultural issues French citizens are facing.

Meet one Thursday a month to discuss great books with your neighbors. We've been meeting for five years, and welcome new members.

In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be one week following the scheduled meeting, held at the same time and place.

NEW POLICY FOR BOOK GROUPS: To streamline our services, we are requiring book group members to reserve the assigned book under their individual library card. You may place a hold yourself, or call a librarian to do it for you. When the book arrives, you will be notified by email or phone. If you have any questions, please call us at 693-6614. Thank you for your cooperation.

Reading the books before attending the meeting is strongly recommended.

Bring your books and your lunch, and the library will provide discussion leaders and refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library
